I started getting checked in the hospital Wednesday at 7am. They started the potossum by 8:15. They kept checking on me and asking me if I was feeling the contractions yet. Then they'd up the dosage. I was quickly up to the maximum dosage. I told myself that I wouldn't ask for an epidural till 1:00. By then I had some good contractions lasting up to ten minutes and less than two minutes apart I think. I had a good friend with me that helped me through the contractions by pushing on my pressure points. She kept telling me that I didn't need and epidural. I tried to get one and it didn't work at all. Two epidurals later, we decided to try a spinal tap. As I was getting that, I had a super hard contraction and three pushes later, she was here. I tore a little, but nothing like the first. Kimberly Brooklyn Parkin entered the world on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:45pm. She weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz. and was 19 1/4 inches long. As painful as natural childbirth was, I think it was so much better. The recovery has been amazing!
It killed to have the afterbirth pushed out.
