Scera Park

My friend Heather and I took the kids to the pool Friday. We wanted to get in at least one more day before they close for the season. We didn't think to call ahead to see if the hours changed, being that most kids are back in school. So we ended wasting a little time driving to closed ones. We ended up at Scera Pool in Orem. It's a great place for toddlers. We had a fun Saturday too. I'll post more tomorrow...

The slide got old fast. I bet spent at least 30- 45 minutes straight on that. It's fun trying to teach toddlers how to stand in line and take turns, especially when they are strangers.
This floaty is the best $2 I spent all summer! I love garage saling! Sydney loves to go in the lazy rivers with it. It gives her independence.

Owlz Game

Jason took last week off for a vacation week. We got some things done around the house and had some family fun around here. And Jason helped our neighbor cut down some dead trees. We went to Kranky Franks for lunch on Wednesday. We were on our way to buy some Orem Owlz tickets for that night. Kranky Franks is a local hot dog joint owned by some friends in our ward. They sell Nathan hot dags. They are so good. Anyways, we ran into an old ward member who happen to have six tickets to the game. She wasn't able to go, so she gave the tickets to us for nothing. Her work buys season tickets that get passed around. Boy were we lucky or what!? How often can you score $60.00 worth of tickets? We sure are grateful!
It was a giveaway night. They gave the first 1000 fans a commemorative 5 year anniversary ball. Jason and Sydney went and got a few autographs.
Sydney is into Jason's hats lately. The picture isn't very good, but she looked so grown up!
Over by the lawn sea ts, they have a nice playground. Sydney enjoyed it!

Whale Sprinkler

Our friend Debbie bought Sydney a cute sprinkler a few weeks ago. She loves it! I finally took some pics. Of course this was a day where she was more into putting her cars down her slide. But she would throw a fit if I turned it off.

Zucchini Muffins

I've been blessed with an abundance of zucchini from good friends. I made muffins the other day. They were so good! I have to share the recipe...

  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light or dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups finely shredded unpeeled zucchini
  • 1/2 cup finely shredded carrot

Preparation:

Grease and flour 12 muffin cups. Heat oven to 375°.

In a mixing bowl, beat the oil with eggs, sugars, and vanilla extract.

Combine the flour, soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon; add to the wet ingredients; stirring until blended. Fold in the shredded zucchini and carrots.

Fill muffin cups about 3/4 full; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or granulated sugar, if desired. Bake for 20 minutes.

Swimming

I've taken Sydney to a few outdoor pools lately. She loves them. Unfortunately I haven't taken any pics. I'm paranoid someone will steal my camera. I did get this shot on the way home from the pool last week. The boy is her best friend Emmett.

Storm

We had a fun little storm roll through today. Winds gusted between 50-60 miles an hour. Our neighbors dead tree broke off in our yard. It landed on our shed, but thankfully it didn't do any damage. It was a blessing though. Now she is calling a tree service to cut her dead trees down. Now I just need to convince the neighbors behind us to do that...

Pioneer Day Run

Jason completed another 5K on the 24th. He ran it in 24:11.86 Minutes. We are so proud of him!!!!
Since it was Pioneer Day, there was a contest for Pioneer costumes.
Our friend Debbie came to support Jason. Sydney loved playing with her phone!
Almost to the finish line...

They had two toys for the kids to jump in. Sydney absolutely loved jumping!!!
