Kimberly Brooklyn

I started getting checked in the hospital Wednesday at 7am. They started the potossum by 8:15. They kept checking on me and asking me if I was feeling the contractions yet. Then they'd up the dosage. I was quickly up to the maximum dosage. I told myself that I wouldn't ask for an epidural till 1:00. By then I had some good contractions lasting up to ten minutes and less than two minutes apart I think. I had a good friend with me that helped me through the contractions by pushing on my pressure points. She kept telling me that I didn't need and epidural. I tried to get one and it didn't work at all. Two epidurals later, we decided to try a spinal tap. As I was getting that, I had a super hard contraction and three pushes later, she was here. I tore a little, but nothing like the first. Kimberly Brooklyn Parkin entered the world on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 2:45pm. She weighed 7 lbs., 3 oz. and was 19 1/4 inches long. As painful as natural childbirth was, I think it was so much better. The recovery has been amazing! It killed to have the afterbirth pushed out.

The nurse forgot to grab the towel after she started bathing Sydney, so her proud grandma got to help.
I love this picture!
She got pretty beat up. She came too fast. This is a pic from the next day.

When my friend brought Sydney in, you would have thought she wasn't ours. She didn't care about us at all. Eventually she wanted to hold her sister. She cried when our friend left her with us for a few hours. It was too funny!

Heading home!

Bassinet

I borrowed a bassinet from a friend. I can't keep Sydney out of it! Sorry Katherine!

Easter Dress

Sydney got to wear her new Easter dress last weekend since conference fell this weekend...

Baby Shower

My dear friend Heather threw me a baby shower last weekend. It was so nice having it at my own house! It was so great just hanging out with the girls and being with adults in general!
We passed around a box that said "The Dreaded Bloomers". Heather turned around as we were passing and stopped us suddenly. Of course I was the lucky one to have it in my hand. I was nervous opening it up, being that Heather and her mom are such great sewers. Thank goodness it turned out to be a beautiful corsage!

Sydney was great during the shower. She played downstairs with her friend Emmett part of the time and helped mama the other part. I'm grateful for the gifts she also got, so she didn't feel left out. She got a cute silver purse, a look and find Elmo book (She loves that! She's really into the ISPY) and an adorable doll.
I wanted a changing table organizer with Sydney, but could never justify buying one. I was thrilled to receive one!
Jason had our friend Chris embroider some bibs with the MXPX symbol on it. MXPX is his favorite band. He proposed to me outside their concert, so, pretty significant in out relationship!
I LOVE, LOVE this outfit. We all agreed that this is what the baby will come home in. It's actually even called a take home outfit.
The beautiful blond in pink is my dear friend Heather. She put so much time into this shower and I'm so grateful!
Heather and I talked about her making the baby a pink and brown quilt a long time ago. I thought it was long forgotten. I was shocked and excited when I opened this gift!

First run of year

Jason ran his first race of the year. It was a family fun easter 5K in Lehi. There weren't many people which was nice. He had to work that morning so it was a challenge for him to get done, but we made it. It was cold when we left the house to pick him up, but the sun warmed it up quite a bit by the time we got up there.

He's been faithfully running on the treadmill all winter to train for his first 1/2 marathon on May 1st. He improved his best time from last year by a few minutes. He finished 5th overall/mens. He did it in 21 mins. 25.7 sec. We're so proud of him. It's too bad that they only reward the top 3...

Silly!!!

We got a water softener/purifer and a reverse osmosis the other day. Our water is so clean now and the best water to drink, maybe even better than Enumclaw well water! They had to dump out Sydney's Mr. Potato Head toys out of this cleaner. I had it sitting in the tub to dry and Sydney insisted on taking a bath in it! Gotta love the way she wants to be a baby again!
